Zimbabweans are puzzled on how to identify genuine traffic police officers manning roadblocks. I took a journey to Gweru, I witnessed four roadblocks within a s stretch of 60km, I wonder whether all those were genuine roadblocks or are now money making syndicates. I was puzzled again to read in the media that a Fawcett Security cash in transit vehicle was robbed by what is believed to be “fake” traffic police cops. I believed it could be one of these roadblocks that we witness in every curve along the highways. The question is what is the Zimbabwe Police Service doing to build public confidence that all these roadblocks are genuine and how can members of the public indentify “fake cops” and genuine ones. A small survey I carried revealed that members of the public now believe that most of these roadblocks are not genuine.
